Rebel Rugby’s mission is to provide a pathway for our Community, Players and Volunteers to become involved in Rugby Union and the RaboDirect Melbourne Rebels. In doing this, Rebel Rugby will increase participation, grow the standard of the local competitions, provide an education for our participants on and off the field, and ingrain the Rebels Philosophy into the Community. The Rebel Rugby Officer (RRO) is employed to work closely with clubs, schools, affiliates and other relevant stakeholders in Club & Player Development, Education and Elite Player Development. The RRO will also be a key resource at all Home Super Rugby and International matches.
Qualifications / Checks Required:
- Working with Children’s Card
- Full Victorian Drivers Licence
- Accreditation in coaching
- Diploma or Higher in Sport & Recreation / Sport management or equivalent preferred
Responsibilities include:
- Implementation of activities and programs to support the growth of Rugby.
- Manage interactions with Affiliates, Junior Clubs and Schools.
- Maintain and improve existing Rugby programs in designated area.
- Facilitate the recruitment process from Schools to Junior Clubs.
- Set up and run education courses within your region.
- Talent identification of potential Rebels.

- A strong passion and interest in Rugby Union.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to evoke the cooperation of people across a wide range of organisations including volunteers, coaches and schools.
- Strong public speaking and group management skills.
- Strong time management, presentation skills and the ability to prioritise.
- Adequate computer skills and information technology literacy.
- Preparedness to be flexible in respect to work hours and intrastate travel.
- As this role involves large amounts of travel within the state, candidates will need to have the ability to work independently, a preparedness and capacity to work in relative isolation and the adaptability to work as part of a team situation as and when required.
