Raise thousands of dollars for your club

By Rebels Media Unit

How would you like to help raise thousands of dollars for your Victorian Rugby Union club?

Now you can with the Conversions for Clubs programme, a new joint initiative from RaboDirect and the RaboDirect Rebels.

RaboDirect will donate $5,000 each to a total of eight clubs, based on their participation in the initiative. The program is designed to provide much needed funds to the Rugby Union Clubs of Victoria and boost membership of the RaboDirect Rebels, helping to secure the long-term success of professional Rugby Union in Victoria.

So how does it work?

Basically, the initiative rewards Victorian Rugby Union clubs that provide the most 2012 RaboDirect Rebels Members, proportionate to the size of their clubs – simple!

So we're asking all Victorian Rugby Union clubs to encourage their players, members and fans to sign up now, and your Rugby Club could receive at least $5,000.

But that's not all! The eight winning clubs will each receive:

·         A designated RaboDirect Rebels home game which will be theirs to own.

·         A further $200 for each conversion or penalty kicked during 'their' home game.

·         Scoreboard promotion and ground announcements during their allocated home game and each time the RaboDirect Rebels kick for conversions or penalties.

·         On-field cheque presentation from your RaboDirect Rebels player ambassador post-match.A visit by the RaboDirect Rebels player ambassador linked to the Rugby Club following the game.

Executive General Manager, RaboDirect Australia & New Zealand,  Greg McAweeney said RaboDirect is passionate about its ongoing commitment towards cultivating Rugby Union throughout Victoria.

“Leaving a lasting legacy in the community is a major objective of our partnership with the Rebels. This new programme will provide much needed funds and free publicity for Victorian rugby clubs and their members. Clubs can use the funds donated by investing in the fundamentals needed to be successful such as rugby balls, new club kit, trips away and tackle bags.”

Southern Districts Rugby Club President Ken Dixon is delighted with the initiative, fully aware a cash injection of this nature can help the long term future of local clubs.

"RaboDirect Conversions for Clubs is a great initiative, giving opportunities for Rugby Union Clubs to benefit financially when every dollar counts at the grassroots level," said Dixon.

"Southern Districts congratulates RaboDirect for providing financial opportunities to help maximise growth in the wider Victorian rugby community."
