Prop forward, Laurie Weeks, was one of the select number of RaboDirect Rebels to feature in every round of the club’s debut Super Rugby campaign. Making five starts, with 11 appearances from the interchange bench, Laurie was a key contributor throughout the year. One of the most outgoing and personable members of the squad, Laurie is a similarly effervescent presence on the pitch. Technically solid, and a powerful scrummager, he is also extremely mobile and following a year working alongside Greg Somerville, big things are expected of the Sydney-born Tight Head. The 25-year old has already made his mark on Australian Rugby Union. At the end of his debut season for the Queensland Reds in 2009, he was named Super Rugby Rookie of the Year. After packing down against the Bulls at the Loftus Versfeld on debut, he featured in every Reds game that campaign. He played 23 times for the Reds in his two seasons before moving to Melbourne. Laurie began his Rugby Union education at St Joseph’s College, before representing Sydney and Queensland universities. In 2007, he competed in the Australian Rugby Championship for Sydney Fleet, alongside Rebels teammate Adam Byrnes, in a side captained by another Rebel, Tim Davidson. Laurie has been a member of Wallabies squads but has yet to feature in a Test. He has also represented the Australian Barbarians.
