Quade Cooper on his first opportunity to play in Rebels colours.

“It felt great to be able to put the jumper on and play some football. The whole preseason is about 12 weeks of running around and to get the opportunity to get out there and play some football was fantastic.”

Replacement five-eighth Stu Dunbar on scoring the match winning try.

“I was pretty excited, I don’t get too many tries so it was good to get one. It was a big effort by the forwards to win the scrum, then we spun it wide and then I was lucky enough to get a second touch and put it in the corner. I gave the fans a bit of a fist pump, then I was smothered by the boys, so it was a great feeling.”

Winger Tasi Tautalatasi on his breakout performance in the trial match and his hopes of getting a Super Rugby contract.

“I started here eight weeks ago, and it’s been the first time I’ve ever done a preseason with a professional team in union, so it’s been an eye opener. I got my reward out there today and I hope it showed the coaches what I can do.”

Lock Luke Jones on returning to Ballarat for the trial match.

“It was good to come back. We obviously came here for a camp a few weeks ago so it was nice to come back, and it felt a lot different tonight because it was high thirties when we were here last time, but it was freezing by the end of the game. It was a lot fun and it was good to get a hit out against the Reds, and we got a good chance to get some more combinations together against a competitive team.”
