The Melbourne Rebels Women’s team travelled to Albury on Saturday to take on the Brumbies in their final trial match before finalising their squad for the upcoming inaugural Super W competition.

With the focus squarely on trailing players for the remaining squad spots, the Rebels Women went down to a quality Brumbies Women's outfit 70-10 in the trial game played over 90 minutes, split into three 30-minute thirds.

The squad selection trial allowed the team to consistently rotate the line-up and test out different combinations, while also gaining a better understanding of the teams strengths and weaknesses.

This game gave the Women’s Rebels coaching staff an opportunity to see the 40-women strong squad perform against a strong opposition.

The selection of the Super W Squad will be finalised this week, with the team announcement to follow early next week.

Big thanks to the ACT Brumbies for travelling to Albury for the trial and providing some quality competition. A big thanks also must go to family and friends who travelled up to support the team.

The Melbourne Rebel’s Women’s side will kick-off their Super W campaign away against the Western Force on Sunday 11th March at Cottesloe Rugby Club.
