Biography

Jack Maddocks is a pacy winger, who possesses a fantastic ability of converting chances into tries whenever he has the ball.

Maddocks hails from Sydney and before pursuing a career in rugby, Maddocks focused on cricket for Scots College and only played a handful of union games.

The New South Welshman, a first-grade cricketer on scholarship with Sydney University, cemented his rugby pathway when he was the only Australian player to play every minute of the 2016 World Rugby U20’s Championship, appearing in all five games at fullback.

Away from sport, Jack is studying at the University of Sydney a Liberal Arts and Science degree.

In June 2016, The Australian U20s star signed a two-year contract with the Melbourne Rebels after turning down an opportunity to pursue a professional cricket career.

In 2017, Maddocks made his Super Rugby debut against the Blues at Eden Park, Auckland, starting on the right wing. Maddocks would only manage a further five games, but he was still named as the Rebels Rookie of the Season.

2018 proved to be Maddocks' breakout year, with the young-gun playing 15 matches and scoring an incredible nine tries, averaging 78 minutes of game time for the season. During the 2018 season, Maddocks signed another two-year deal, keeping him at the Rebels until the end of the 2020 season.

Maddocks had impressed Australian test selectors, and was selected for the Wallabies' The Rugby Championship squad. Maddocks scored off the bench on his test debut against New Zealand and started the following match against the All Blacks at Eden Park.

The pacy winger only built on his promising Super Rugby career by scoring a personal best 10 tries for the season, finishing fifth in Super Rugby for overall most tries scored in 2019.

Maddocks was selected in the Wallabies' 2019 The Rugby Championship squad.
