Biography

Jordan Uelese is a front rower, who plays at hooker.

Uelese hails from Eltham, Victoria and has followed in the footsteps of Sione Tuipulotu and Rob Leota to rise through Victorian Rugby’s elite pathway and sign a contract with the Melbourne Rebels.

Uelese was a key figure in the Melbourne Rebels U20 campaign in the inaugural Super U20s and started in all five games in the World Rugby U20s Championship in Manchester.

Uelese impressed Wallaby coach Michael Cheika in 2017 and was named in the Wallabies squad for The Rugby Championship.

In November 2017, Uelese committed to Australian Rugby until 2020, after the rising star was recognised for his breakout year with a new contract with Rugby Australia and the Melbourne Rebels.

Uelese made three Super Rugby appearances this year after his debut off the bench against the Blues in the opening round of the 2017 season at AAMI Park and subsequently earned his first Wallabies cap in Perth against South Africa.

Uelese made eight appearances for the Rebels in 2018, with an ACL injury in Round 16 against the Brumbies cruelling the young rake of adding to his Wallabies appearances.

With Uelese spending the first 2/3 of 2019 rehabilitating, a successful return for the Melbourne Rising in their match against the Japan A Wolfpack side led to the front rower making a Super Rugby return in Round 15 against the Sunwolves. Uelese played a further two games for the Rebels to take his season tally to three matches.

Uelese's return to Super Rugby and raw potential as an international hooker led the front rower to be selected in the Wallabies' The Rugby Championship squad for 2019.
